Electronic News Gathering Antenna Installation

Electronic News Gathering or ENG is a term used by television stations for the methods they employ to get live video feeds back from their news vehicles. The news vans usually have some sort of mast to support a highly directional 2 gigahertz transmtting antenna. The studio receives the video by microwave or leased line connection to a receiving site. Commonly the best receiving site is at the television station's transmitting tower, being the tallest structure in their viewing area. The receiving antenna is a highly directional "dish" that is capable of being rotated in order to "aim" it at the news van. Often the dish is enclosed in a protective housing made from fiberglass or some other non interfering material. The following photos show Middle Tennessee Two-way installing a new ENG antenna system for a local Television station.
